Message from George and Maria

We would like to inform you about the projected by the media situation in Greece, caused by the financial crisis.
The situation at our apartments, in the greater area of Amudara, in Heraklion and in Crete has nothing to do with the pictures of disaster and chaos that dominate the media, and certainly do not honour us.
These pictures relate to certain programmed demonstrations (mainly) in Athens (at three central places), specific days and time that no guest has any reason to be present.
Life here has not changed dramatically compared with the last few years, as long as safety is concerned and the way people deal with life.
Though some changes were inevitable:
  • People seem more introverted, each family has at least one member who got recently unemployed.
  • Taxes have doubled , while development has frozen, resulting to many businesses closing down.
  • Strikes of sectors that protest fairly or not can affect everyday life, although this is focused again on the capital.
Perhaps all the above give birth to a new start. What the country needs is development and certainly a reduce in tourism, will only cause further recession.
In this context we at the Abatross try to upgrade the services we provide while keeping the same prices since 2007.

Hoping to see you all soon and this year to be the last year of recession for GREECE.
